i have very little to say to you

i’ve already burned the truth
my room reeks of it,
and all my clothes
no matter how many bars
of soap i use
a lie told often enough
does not become a truth

a truth
is a one-shot-one-dot-one-chance-final-high-note-maiden-name-last-dance-answer-to-bubble-contract-to-sign-one-way-train-to-peace-of-mind-bull’s-eye-gold-mine-speak-now-black-and-white-checkmate-fight-or-flight-one-way-street-red-light-green-light-hit-or-miss-pass-or-fail-first-kiss-holy-grail-eat-the-fruit-and-toss-the-rind-sink-or-swim one of a kind

tired of being left behind
i burned your name
off my heart line

it will be bitter
when it never rhymes
but lies told often enough
will still be lies
so i
have nothing else to say
