Midnight Calls
When did it become a habit?
When did it become a tradition
to answer your calls with tears
 and the words
 "What happened this time?"
 It seems as though
the only times we even talk anymore
are the times that you hold
 The Gun to your head
and threaten to pull the trigger.
When's the last time we talked on the phone
 about something other than
 your suicide?
About school or politics or the weather or how good the new girl looks in a skirt?
 About anything other than
how much you hate your dad
and how much he hates you
and how it hurts too much for you to
 stay?
 Stay.
 Please
 please just stay
for the sake of my sanity
 just stay.
