The Dancer's Fall
Crystalline tears fell
On furious cheeks
Flushed crimson
With embarrassment.
Eyes darkened with distress,
Willowy white hand wrapped
Around ankles swollen
Onyx and sapphire.
Black voices roared
angry and scornful.
Soft tears slipped from reddening eyes,
Shamed by failure.
Failure that caused a fall
From glory,
Fame,
And from the heart of her dark-eyed god.
