A spot of yellow and black
Sped down a distressed road.
Battling the jags in the path,
Dodging the miniature abyss.
It was treated rough,
But wasn’t really built for horseplay.
It was retired, and like so many of the others
Who were abandoned, wrinkled, and aged
It fled to the desert, to the west.
It roamed the familiar streets,
Abandoned now, the glistening,
Majestic masterpieces were nowhere in sight.
And so the lonely cab wound its way
Around,
Down,
As its engine cried the terrible song of the obsolete.
