Favorite Quote:
"Some of you may have taken history or civics classes that outlined the freedoms one expects in a democracy. At the heart of those freedoms is choice... With an affirmative choice, all democracy vanishes."

Sometimes when my soul flickers
the wavering flame
burns my hands
waiting
to catch the light

My spirit cannot
be contained
Content to stay within the lines
Contempt...
fuels the fire
that is deprived of oxygen
and gains a breath only...

I see you
and my soulflame
sees danger (which it likes, craves)
Together they burn out
a driftwood flame
Gasping for breath that is there
but eludes (our lips)
Hands knotted in your hair

Short match burns bright
then dies
Torn apart
perforation by perforation
A child with a new school notebook
neatly, quietly (ssh)

Until the only sound left is my soulflame
deprived of oxygen, gasping for air
once more
