Beauty Fades
I had a rock I cherished
because it was unique.
I was young
and it’s beauty caught my eye.
That seems to me
a lot like the people,
the simple minded people
who go to West High.
Where image is everything
and rules are a joke,
where a golden heart goes
disguised.
Because in high school
pretty is everything
a person will ever be
intelligence wins awards,
but pretty wins pride.
And just like that rock
I soon noticed
that it’s image, it’s nice image
died.
And I got bored,
so I put the rock away
and moved on with
my every day life.
As will the people,
the simple minded people,
who think beauty
is worth the strife.
