Bidding Farewell

With one last touch,
I bid him farewell.
he takes with him the only thing i could give.
my heart
he doesn't know
he doesn't remember.
what was once a powerful thing between us.
i shed the tears that never came before,
they trail down my face as i watch him go.
He can't look back but is compelled to.
He sees me crying
and his reasons for leaving vanish.
He couldn't leave me.
He wouldn't leave me
