Dropped
Soggy, shaking
Into the dirty street

It stands
Shakes
Runs off
Pride drying quicker
Than fur

Shoved
Sobbing, aching
Out to the edge of the playground

I stand
Brush off gravel and tears
Hold my head up
And notice

A small, stray cat
Running down the dirty street

It prances over
And I see
Myself reflected
in its eyes
