You can't run
I'm an independent young lady,
Strong and brave
A little lonesome, maybe.
I can handle most things on my own
Although I always feel afraid
Because I can't bare being alone.
I try to ignore the seclusion
Maybe turn the television a little louder
To make this seem like an illusion.
But I soon realize that drowning the lonesome out
It doesn't work the way I wanted
I hide under my blanket and begin to pout.
Maybe it's something I can hide from
And after a day
Then a week
And before I know it months
But still the feeling of loneliness won't let me run.
