The voices of the old
are wise.
The voices of the young
are unheard.
Who are we if we
abandon our own voice?
If we listen, but we
do not speak?
What are we if we
do not speak against promises
that are
no kept?
Truths that turn to
lies?
Calls to action that reap
nothing?
Why are we
silent?
When will we find our voices
once again?

It's disappointing to admit, but a person's word holds such little esteem in this day and age. Everyone judges by action over intention and genuine trust is a rarity. I suppose we were driven into silence by the shifting values. This is a very nicely written poem. Got me thinkin on life again

Choir Girl, great poem I really liked this poem. I really liked your message. Especially the part where you were like the promise unkept. Suggestion: maybe add more details
