For Months I Walk
Footsteps hit
grey tile after grey tile
after grey tile
I walk.
Steady pace,
each footprint in the same place
tile after tile after grey tile.
For months I walk,
same tiles,
going nowhere.
Same people, same thoughts,
same place,
going everywhere.
Grey tile after grey tile.
The tiles embody my form
my routine is instilled
as the grey tiles reach up and
seize each footstep,
pulling me along
until I stop thinking about
the grey tiles
and where they are taking me.
For months I walk,
steady pace,
grey tile after grey tile
after grey tile.
Going nowhere.
Going everywhere.
It all blends together
day after day,
month after month,
step after step,
hello after goodbye,
smile after smile and
tile after tile
after grey tile.
For months I walk.
