You said you like girls with green eyes
While you looked into mine
But I couldn't believe
So I didn't see

You asked for my hand
While I pulled away
I felt your warmth
But I didn’t see

My heart was hurting when you left
I didn’t know why
But I couldn’t feel
So I didn’t see

My heart would beat
Down the street
My mood would soar
But I didn’t believe in me
So I didn’t see

Behind the brown door of fear-
Are lies that the smartest believe
Are wounds long deceived
Are keys that lock our vision
And stories we have hidden

Behind the brown door of doubt-
Are questions we always ignore
Are people we used to adore
Are humanity’s shameful addictions
And all of our practiced traditions

The big brown door is hard to break
It’s built of pain and tears and hate
With our love it crumbles down
Tuning in to laughter’s sound

Now I see what i did not
I can feel what I had sought
Your beliefs are my truth
We have sprung beyond the moon
