The pacing of her footsteps

Quick as an old sin
Before I knew it she was in

The same old state again
My eyes swam with tears

But a fire I held true
I hugged her shoulders

I couldn't tell her I was blue
I held her tight

As I tried to make the mood light
As long as I was around

She wasn't giving up that fight
I held my tears

And swallowed my fears
And prayed I could hold on tight
