To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour.

We start life like a seed of a beautiful plant; full of potential,
As we grow our roots and shoots,
And enter blissful childhood,
Bypass the traumatic teenage years,
Slug slowly through adulthood,
Then come to a halt in our terminal days,
We wonder about how it all began,
We ponder upon how it was made: the earth, sun, moon and man,
We question our existence and life beyond death,
We fall in and out of love,
We query why our loved ones are taken from us,
We look across the oceans and see that there is a chance of escape,
We gaze to the stars and believe there is something bigger than ourselves,
We stare in disbelief at the mirror in moments that fill us with regret,
We ask ourselves “what if?” and doubt or self-assurance,
We think of ancient explorers and how things have changed,
And finally conclude that this is not the final destination,
It is merely the starting point,
And that we will continue in our voyage,
Wherever it may take us.
