The Storm

Torrents of waves crashed on the sand. The hail pelted, and the wind stole, everything in its' path. Men, women, and children ran to take cover, and hoped they'd make it. Panic was taking over the city. The chaos spreading as fast as a disease. The water levels rose higher and higher. No one saw this storm coming, and no one believed this would ever happen to them. There wasn't a single thing they could do, except keep hope alive in their hearts for a better day.

The author's comments:
I was watching on the news everything that was happening in hurricane Sandy. I imagined myself in their place and of the frightened people. I thought of everything that was happening at the coast. These words just popped in my head, and I wrote it down. I hope to convey some of the emotions that were felt. To touch the people that have lost someone in hurricane Sandy, so they know that we do care.

It's a little hard to see the poetic divisions, or where the lines end. Very deep though.
