i know life is hard, boy
i can see it in your eyes.
that silly grin, those hearty laughs,
i know you use as a disguise.
the pills, the drugs, the alcohol-
you beg them to help you forget
But please don't give into that crap
please don't give up and quit
show me that you're different, babe
prove to me you're stronger
I've always admired the guy you've become,
so give me a reason to admire you longer.
i hope you know i understand-
especially since our feelings coincide.
just promise not to leave me
because i need you by my side.
