You're Already Gone
but the way the light’s touching your face
the day’s nearly over
shadows in the twilight stretching long
in this moment you come back
you are strong
worthy
that glazed over look is fading
slowly
surely
but your heart pulls
the strings gag you
drag you
drowning you in emotion
in emotions you thought were gone
it fills you to the brim
the last sliver of courage wavers
falls
you should be strong
could be
but no one chooses to drown
it’s an accident
this is different though
this is a murder
committed by the laughter at lunch
by the whispers in the hall
by the stares as you pass
it’s not your fault
but that doesn’t matter
you’re already gone
