Silence of the Night
The Night was black
 Someone shut off the moon
 it was dim and dull.
 There was a mysterious
 chill in the air.

 I stepped out of bed
the cool floor sent a chill
up my leg and through my body.

I heard the whistle of the wind
and the crunching of the leaves,
 the shadow of the branches
 looked like the wrinkled
 arm of an old man.

 The creaking of stairs
 sounded louder in the silence,
 of this night.
