I had a dream last night that I was flying a plane on a bright, sunny day. I was doing loop-de-loops in the sky.

And I felt so free.

The wind was kissing my face, the sun was warming my skin. My heart was pounding, ready to burst out of my chest at any given moment, rising and falling with the movements of the plane.

And I felt so free.

No restrictions, no limitations, not a person to be seen for miles around. Just the sun, the plane, and me.

And I felt so free.

But then I woke up. I felt the drudgery that was life.

I felt the chains of oppression snake themselves around me again, suffocating me until I forgot what liberation felt like.

The sun disappeared, the wind became a harsh enemy that no longer kissed my face but whipped by it instead.

My heart craved the freedom it tasted in my dream. Where no one was around and the expectations were low and the restrictions were gone.

Where I felt so free.

This poem was actually inspired by a dream I had. :)
