Ode to Daylight Savings Time

Twice a year,
In the late hours of the night,
An unnatural phenomenon
Shrouds the world.

Time turns,
Once forward,
Once backward,
While the world sleeps.

In fall,
People wake to bright light-
Did I sleep in?
And then they remember.

In spring,
The sun will stay up
Past its bedtime
To shine a little longer.

Daylight savings time seems pointless,
But Franklin’s intentions were pure.
It maximizes the light hours
So you may make the most of your day.
