Genuine Personhood
Nothing is as poetic as
 Running your hands along
 someone else's flesh
 From pure wonder and respect

 Disbelief and no ulterior motive
 Driven into explosive conversation
Wishing it was because it's new and exotic
 Knowing it's from bone-carved pupils
 And confusion

 Nothing is as poetic as
 Watching understanding hang off
 The tip of someone's tongue
Lies sitting at the corner of their mouth
 With no secret intentions

 Voices like elephant ivory
 Christmas light laughter
 It's a special occasion
 We just witnessed
 Genuine personhood
