Well spent
Lost in a crowd
 Like fish in a brook
To people fishing, that’s how it looks
 Tiny goldfish milling around
 Like mindless slaves
 Busily bound

 Here we are
 All faking our smiles
 But really our lives
 Are being tossed into files
 Into an office
 Where we all stay
 Ensuring the boss
 Will get his way

 A step out of line,
 And you’re found behind bars
You’re never allowed to reach for the stars
 And if you do try
 It comes at a price
And the work for the money
 Doesn’t look nice

So why do we sit like mindless drones
In front of a screen away from our homes
 And if we are home
 What time do we spend?
 With our own family
 To which we must tend

For we spend too much time
 On money for rent
 Instead of living happily
And having our lives well spent.
