Circling Cinders
March 30, 2014
under an evening’s
safe cover
a fiery swath
envelopes our round
and a spangled flaming sound
let this scrape the inky night
with a forger’s searing pin
to prick out more light
ashes crumble down
amongst the thawing round
we can see reflections simmer
as the smoking spout will glimmer
hazing faces
softening sharp edges
and ripping off our skin
