"Life isn’t about how to survive the storm, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.” — Taylor Swift

one
one day
there was a door
that never opened

two
rain
snow
lightning
fall through
an open door

three
cut
carved
sanded
polished
making a door

four
tears were cried behind this door
people were locked out
people were let in
but no one knew the door

five
do you want to build a snowman?
from behind a closed door

six
fists knocking
scraping off skin
scraping off memories
pounding on the door
screaming and sobbing
but nobody can ever be let in

seven
Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair
shouted through a window
in a tower
locked in
stuck
the door is the bars on your prison cell

eight
creaky hinges
ghosts
severed limbs
bloody corpses
a haunted door
a haunted house

nine
Death
opens a door
then closes it
before you get the chance
to say goodbye

ten
a door protects you
from fear
so your enemies
can’t break you

eleven
opening a door
to a wardrobe
climbing through
into another world
filled with lions
and witches
and magic

twelve
I am malicious
I keep you away
from what you love
I hide them behind me
where you won’t find them

thirteen
I open at the close
if you want to get in
if you want to get out
I require
the ultimate sacrifice

I love the shape of it. It's not traditional, but it is- it's reinvented. It flows together really well. I love how the door hides people's secrets and protects them but also betrays them. the two-sided nature of a person. oh, love the Frozen reference btw!

"I think it's fairly common for writers to be afflicted with two simultaneous yet contradictory delusions- the burning certainty that we're unique geniuses and the constant fear that we're witless frauds who are speeding toward epic failure." -Lynch

This is an awesome concept, and I just love the presentation. I like stanzas six, seven, and eight, and of course, the Frozen allusion!
