I thought you were the king of the world,
But you said, “No. I don’t love you.”
And I thought you were the star of my life,
But you said, “No. I don’t love you.”
And I thought you were the caretaker of my heart,
But you said, “No. I don’t love you.”
So what have you been doing all this time?
It wasn’t just a meaningless act.
I refuse to believe that.
And you suddenly changed your mind?
Well,
I’ve suddenly changed mine.
You said, “Baby, I thought you were mine.”
And I said, “No. I don’t love you.”
And you said, “Baby, I thought you were happy.”
And I said, “No. I don’t love you.”
And you said, “Baby, I thought we were together.”
And I said, “No. I won’t love you.”
So what have I been doing all this time?
I wasn’t just putting up with you.
I know that isn’t true.
You suddenly changed your tone?
Well,
I suddenly changed my feelings.
It wasn’t pointless.
I learned from our love.
I learned to never love if you aren’t prepared to stop.
I learned to always listen.
I learned to always talk.
I learned that nothing happens suddenly.
I learned that I’m a brat.
I learned that boys are stupid.
I can’t change any of that.
But I can look at you and truly say, “I did love you back.”
And maybe you’ll return to me.
Or maybe you’ll attack.
