Favorite Quote:
"My motto as I live and learn, is dig and be dug in return."--Langston Hughes

Her steel knees and nimble feet drew weapon-bearers to her lead
Her swift arm and quick mind served her well through gruesome times
Neither bound by youth, nor trapped into elderly, her living at its zenith
She gave life to one, not two, nor three, or else wrath would oversee
Greeted with a silver gleam, her heart was shattered amid clashes and screams But shattered in favor of the trees
By the life given from thee

The author's comments:

I wrote this piece to portray a young women living in a male-centered society showing bravery by dying for the honor of where she originated.
