Windows
Life is like a window
And we stand there looking out
Waiting
Watching
Wishing
Hoping that the breeze will blow in
Something Amazing
Something Special
Someone worth knowing
Things worth noticing
And time ticks on
Unwary
Unwearing
Uncaring
As to whether or not
The weather is cold
Or even if it is too hot
Time beats on like a pulse
Or a song
Our pulse
Our pulse has limited numbers
And yet we sit
Doing nothing
Unwary
Unwearing
Uncaring to the fact
That any day now
Our beats will be gone
And the world will beat on
Unwary
Unwearing
Uncaring for the birds
Those who sit on the windowsill
The edge
Some who take wing from the start
Some who take heart
And build nests where they belong
And some who aren’t strong enough to go
Until they are pushed
From the Window that is life
