Dancing with Demons
I keep a secret
Buried deep
It eats away my soul
It stole from me
My childhood
Of horrors
That can't be told
It took away
My happy
And drowned my heart
With fear
My soul was buried deep
With anger
I wanted to be left alone
But the secrets
Burdened me
And my heart
Made heavy ladened
I couldn't take it
Anymore
I wanted a quick
Escape
The drugs
So close
Whisky
So sweet
I needed the escape
But the overdose
That fateful night
Stopped my life
At a screeching halt
My life is paused
Now I must choose
Which life path I will take
I can turn
My life around
I guess it's not
Too late
So I got back up
and laid down
That joint
I was ready to get better
But six months sober
My life got harder
And that little voice
Returned
Just a drink
To numb the pain
To be able to forget
The past
That haunting offer
Oh, so sweet
Haunts my every thought
No! I scream
I won't go back
I won't destroy
My life
It's the dance
I do
With my demons
At night
An epic battle
At blade
