Heritage
  Our heritage has taught us
  that through determination,
our thoughts can build a nation.
  Our heritage has taught us
  that through preservation,
  our hard work strengthens.
  This heritage, which gave us
a future in the form of education,
sits high on a pedestal. Through
  garnished mirrors and smoke,
  alumni stand accomplished
  but only pseudo-successful.
  Our heritage has taught us
  that under that polished table,
  slides secretive appraisal.
  Our heritage has taught us
that behind those who are able,
  stoop those not grateful.
  This heritage, which gave us
a future in the form of expression,
  sucks on silver spoons. Through
  cushioned exteriors,
  high praises mask the hidden,
  dilapidated rooms.
  Our heritage has taught us
  that smiling lips,
  kiss brown noses.
  Our heritage has taught us
  that smiling eyes,
  skip over wilted roses.
  This heritage, which gave us
a future in the form of selection,
  avoid Bee’s poisoned pollen.
Gospel is the belief that wilting
  flowers, already forgotten,
  have already fallen.
  Our heritage has taught us
  that a porcelain reflection,
  is what is needed.
  Our heritage has taught us
  that Honesty and Loyalty
  can always be superseded.
  Your heritage, which gave you
a future in the form of perfection,
  dropped me in the dirt.
  White hands used to mangle
  rusted spoons, left me
  broken, bloody, and hurt.
