I’ve never kissed nor been kissed without the lonely intent of passion
Or spoke or touched without a reason.
I tore up my mouth inside and out,
Grinding it against enamel and bricks that matched the color of my heart
To not try and know anything but the feeling of friction on my delicate skin.

I’ve only ever left bruises created without intent
On pieces of shattered hearts
That I had dropped when I ran,
And I use the breaths I took to full up my lungs
When mine were too dark to function.

Then I ran into you.

You knocked their wind right out of me to the point where I could breathe through healthy lungs again.
You made my teeth shatter to their roots when my jaw hit the floor.
You allowed me to leave bruises with the most beautiful of intentions along your skin like a canvas.
You stopped my mouth from tearing when you wrapped yours around infancy,
Leaving me in that stage, not knowing how to speak.

I no longer need a reason to feel you
Or tell you all of the sweet everythings I never learned to share.
You kissed me with the sweetest of intentions of your honey chapstick,
And I learned to kiss back with love.

I fell between the cracks and I didn't want to find my way out.
