Rotten and scrambled,
a pitiful paragon of the once-noble
as friendships fall like
corpses, in a field of dirty snow;
colder, colder
rotting away —
colder, colder
with eyes of fire
hot enough to match the ashes
of bridges burned,
but lacking:
the coals not tended,
embers tremble with each gust —
Too fragile
Too fake
To thaw the ice.
