Passage to Adult
You will race to the constellations
To find Orion is already dim,
Evade imaginary fears
Yet still be consumed by apprehension
Meet the one who makes you laugh
Only to learn true love is a facade.
You will brave tempests
Simply to reach a roaring waterfall,
Survive the fall
Merely to discover an abyss of unfamiliarity.
You will be propelled by the waves of your thoughts,
Catapulted through the tides of uncertainty
Driven to the far depths of a vast, foreign ocean
Until your identity is nowhere to be found.
When you finally swim to some remote island
Far from where you first originated
You will believe you have been forsaken
Only to find the rest of the world
Has battled the same stormy seas
And has remained here ever since.
