Air (Free verse)
We’re all selfish, greedy, and in need.
Trying to control as we please.
We realize we can defeat its purpose,
So we use it against its function.
While some grasp for it when it goes out of reach,
Others could be labeled criminals for the heist of its clean state.
Or thief could be called while they steal it from others.
It could be a classified weapon.
All we try is to control,
We never realize the real control.
Nothing ensures it will last forever,
No matter how hard we try,
No warranty papers were signed.
Because all things expire,
We all distress and get demolished.
And after we have nothing to defeat,
There’s nothing left to keep us sane.
After it’s all gone,
No more,
To fill our lungs.
Not enough for billions of people to survive.
How long will it take,
To inhale the reality,
Of losing control,
And not having the ability to do anything about it?
How long will it take,
For people to realize,
Not to mess with the bigger,
Because things might end sour?
And when this happens,
How long will it remain?
I can only assume
How things will end.
But one thing I know,
no one can prevent the unpreventable.
