Being black
being this race is like a white hand giving you a pimp slap
across your bruised face.

we have nothing at all except the sport we called basketball
we don’t get long pretty hair or a Brangelina love affair.

We fight for equality and jobs and rights.
But all we have are bed bug bites and stabs in the back.

All are black men are shot up.
Leaving us to lie in the dust all alone.
To raise our children all on our own.
with no man to help us.
We have to do all sorts of stuff.
The struggle for us is real.
With no way out or how to feel.

We have to fight now and forever always on our toes.
being black is hard and a fight. we have to stand together.
Hope for brighter days. cause lots of obstacles are in our way we have to pray.

This is what being black is
and It’s not chis. We have to
stay in our place even if people spit in our face.

Being black is a struggle

and not impossible. Keep fighting cause being black is beautiful.
