million dollar bones
I broke my back so you wouldn't break yours
I cramped my wrist so you would know what hid
I learned how to pronounce asphyxiation
because that's what it felt like
(did that impress you?)
but I am tired of using SAT-level
words trying to describe you
sometimes I loved the way the sunlight
reflected off your glasses and made white streaks
on the wall whenever you turned your head
I opened all the doors so all you had to do was walk in
I closed all the doors so you wouldn't be haunted
(can I ever get the smell of you out of my hair?)
