The Broken Mirror
I look in the mirror
But the face I see
Doesn’t match me.
I am not of ginger hair,
I don’t have that menacing stare,
Nor am I grown up.
I am blond and pale
And some may say frail
And still very young.
I am me, not she,
Though she is part of me.
Our differences are important
Yet our similarities clash
And when it becomes my turn
She thinks I will crash and burn
Because of how adamant I was
About being myself
And putting her on a shelf.
