I saw an offspring

She was latched to a car seat

And I studied her through clear glass,

When suddenly, her car was speeding down the road.

And I began to wonder...

What do her virgin eyes sees,

When the door hinged to her home stands ajar?

What does her innocent mind register,

When she identifies the people around her?

What is the last thought that drifts through her mind,

Before she settles for a slumber?

First impressions can't answer all those questions for you.

It takes more than a glance to know someone.

It takes more than a gossip session

At the park to understand someone's story

A being is worth more than a definition,

...a title,

A price,

A number.

A being is beyond an insult,

...above a lie.

A being is simply a being,

With a beating heart that throbs from time to time.

With a developing mind that confuses foe for friend.

With a reckless heart,

And a sleeve full of mistakes.

It's about time that we all understand one thing, if anything at all.

Once a being, always a being.

You never know the battles those around you face. Just respect them. It's not impossible to love the unlovable.
