&ldquo; There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.&rdquo; <br /> ― Maya Angelou, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

Being a twin is special.
It’s having a bestfriend
unlike any other
who will never leave you
and always forgive you
no matter what you do
and how many times you do it.
It’s having someone so close to you
who can discern all your emotions
before a word is even exchanged
or a breath taken.
It’s having another heart
lodged in your chest,
closely linked to your heart and soul.
Being a twin is sometimes
thinking the exact same thing
and totally disagreeing about others.
It’s tricking classmates and friends into
believing we have special twin powers
and can read each other’s minds.
It’s people constantly asking
which one of us is older
and my twin claiming she formed
in the womb three days before me
even though I was born first.
It’s the look on negligent faces
when they learn I am a twin
and teachers with unbelieving eyes
noticing that there are two of us
promenading in the cream tile hallways.
Being a twin is people applicating that
we look exactly alike
and competing to see who is taller;
broad shoulders and flat feet,
backs as straight as fine pencils,
proudly standing back to back
and heel to heel
hoping and yearning to be
taller than the other.
It’s never being lonely
and always having someone
to babble or talk sincerely with.
It’s someone you can share anything
and everything with,
down to the depths of your soul
and the needs of your heart.
It’s sharing a room and arguing about
my backpack being over “the line”
and having petty arguments about
socks on the bed
or clothes on the floor,
where shoes should go in the closet
or putting on earphones
while listening to music.
It’s neither of us really
winning at wrestling
because we are the same size,
the perfect match for each other;
we are just wrestling with
an image of ourselves.
It’s answering to my twin’s name
when I know someone is talking to me
and one of us being right-handed
while the other left.
Being a twin is rewarding
for not many people in the world
can say that they have a twin.
It’s seeing a new perspective
of life and wonderful people
God has created.
Being a twin is special.
It’s having a bestfriend
unlike any other
who will never leave you
and always forgive you
no matter what you do
and how many times you do it.

This is a really good piece. I'm actually a twin too which is totally weird. I've had the complete opposite experience with my twin and it's really interesting to see how different sets of twins are with eachother. Me and mine are complete opposites and have never got along a day in our lives. Keep up the great work! I love the imagery and how you tie the beginning with the end
