Bored to death but still alive
I’m the one who holds the string
While the stitcher measures it carefully.
Each time I get the same bad book in return,
Now I have to re-read it completely.
Because I have a lot of free time.
After that’s done, I wait in a line
With people as infinite in number
as the divisions of foam.
After the wait, I get some paint
and I have to watch it dry.
Because I have a lot of free time.
After that’s done, I sit at the back
of a small, locked TV room
As empty as a drum.
I keep on staring at that TV
Until I realize it’s off, hmmm...
So I switch it on to hear the pope read his speeches.
(Read monotonously in 45 languages each is)
Because I have a lot of free time.
Tick Tock Tick Tock,
I live the life of a needle
Going around a clock.
