Race is just a concept,
our skin color, hair, color, eye color, body shape, etc. do
not matter whatsoever in defining us a people.
“Race is the child of racism”
if only people understood that when you judge someone
as black, brown, yellow, or white
that you are placing an internal stigma on them
whether you would like to or not.
It is in our veins that we do this,
it is engrained into our culture.
When I describe myself by looks,
yes I am white
and my friend Odoba is black
and my friend Ann’s skin as a yellowish hue
but this is as far as color goes.
In reality I am a mutt of different cultures,
I am a person who is made of many lands
and that is what describes me.
My friend Odoba is Nigerian,
she comes from a different country
and she is a person, not “Black”.
My friend Ann was born in this country
but her parents are from Vietnam.
The yellow hue in her skin
means nothing more than the fact that she is a person of Vietnamese descent.
“Race is the child of racism”.
Ethnicity means so much more
color is nothing more than describing what you and I look like.
