The sun beams, burning my bare shoulders.
Paths, of others in the sand, wash away with the wind.
The agitation in my stomach tells me she’s not out here, but I push on.
Regret attempts to pry its way into my perplexed mind. I force it out.
The scorched soles of my feet cry for surrender and relief.

As I reach the crest of a hill, what seems to be a mirage, attracts my attention.
From afar, a mass of green speckled with tan sat, like the frogs I leaped with as a child.
Such a sight unheard of in a desert like this. That must her.
The excitement intensifies, the doubt subsides, and the heat retreats.
Reducing the span between the City of Mystery and I, her beauty engulfs me.

My first steps onto the mud bricks shoot tremors through my nerves. She’s gorgeous.
Her leafy dress, crafted with vines, drapes walls and buildings.
Her temptation to wonder plucks my brain as I inspect her inch by inch.
The overwhelming beauty at every turn, whispers for me to stay.
I feel as though I’m a victim, but I love it.

Her beauty, power, and words pull me towards new thoughts.
Like my mother telling fables, I can’t disconnect.
A site built with everlasting love in mind…
Is there any place as magnificent as this?
Everything is splendid. Intriguing, yet humble.

The hum of friendly conversation from the market comforts me as I move.
Thoughts of life here, sift my mind.
I'm bewildered that her perplexity entransed me with such pace.
I want to feel like this forever, and live with such awe surrounding me.
Basting in her beauty and mystery, I decide that this is my new home.
