i see you
I see you out of the corner of my eye,
watching,
like a predator watches his prey,
Eyes crinkled with happiness.
You smile not with your mouth,
but your eyes,
hands,
heart.
I watch you,
You watch her,
and that's it,
isn't it?
Life happens,
and the glint in your eye fades out,
like the sun at dusk,
giving way to beauty,
A sunset,
before the light diminishes,
and all that's left is dark.
But I see you.
I see the twinkle of stars left,
sitting on the black blue blanket of night,
refusing to let the light leave your eyes.
And so I stay,
and watch the stars twinkle,
Until they too fade,
abd give way to dawn.
