Thorns
When bonds turn thorns,
Pricking the very nerves,
That died once before;
Tearing the only heart,
That cried all worth for.
Thorns were no thorns afore
The time that come to be.
Endless love sculpts the end;
Falls down eroded to infinity.
Even if all turn heartless thorns,
And, the cruel world, a wild bush,
Rise up, an undeterred, beautiful flower,
At the top, above all the mush,
For, the thorns ought to learn
From the calm petals,
Of the mighty flower,
Now, stronger than mere metal.
