Dream in Daylight

My eyes are wide open,
Yet I dream of a new life.
Friends and family,
New and old.
Like a pen on paper,
I write the words,
As a fairy tale once told,
A happily ever after.
But not all stories end in
delight,
For some bring pain, in the dead of night.
