Remember
  Remember
  For every lesson learned,
  Another is forgotten.
  A memory, a book,
  now replaced by a fact
  The memory, the book,
  now long forgotten.
  The fact is now lost
as you learn a life lesson
  It soon floats away
when you meet the next day.
  Your new friend’s name
  now replaces the day
But the name will escape you,
  as other things will.
  There’ll be a wisp of a memory,
  an image that will fade
  And never again will you
  remember the whole day.
By the time you are ninety,
  you’ll forget Latin one,
  science, and math.
  Thing you spent years learning,
  now have long passed.
  We work so hard
  to learn new things,
But we fail to see what we lose
  when we gain.
  We lose our first step,
  Our sister’s first word.
  A song, a poem,
  a moment, a word.
  We fail to remember
  these beautiful things
In the cracks of our life
and the scheme of all things
  For every lesson learned,
  another is forgotten.
