Counting Consequences
Fourteen years living, more like dead
Thirteen stitches, not enough
Twelve blind relatives, backs forever turned
Eleven disasters, gone but not
Ten dark voices in her head
Nine remaining chances, all slim to none
Eight broken bottles, strewn across the floor
Seven bad words, shattered sounds
Six sour memories, stuck like glue
Five dragging steps across the monstrous room
Four little brothers, rowdy and naive
Three fluffly cats, always there, peeking
Two emerald eyes, clouded by pain
One forgotten girl, struggling alone
