Rage, rage against the dying of the light. ~Dylan Thomas

Another mourning morning,

Buried six feet under, a
Cistern, cyclone crashing waves spinning
Deep into my psyche, an
Electrifying pulse of life written in
Frighteningly familiar code, AGTTGA,
God's twisted alphabet,
Hell-bent on changing our future,
Irreparable evolution, my genome,
Jeopardizing my bitter future, I
Kneel at the altar of yesterday, reminiscing among the
Lies and long-lived lepers of a family, I avoided like the plague,
My curse has come around, karma in the back, stabbed
Not by a knife but the bitter taste of memory,
Open eyes write my vision dark,
Paralyzed, my heart stumbles through the days and the
Quiet life I led set me to my deathbed with a whisper,
Rot and ruin ride roan nightmares dark into my mind,
Silence I coveted flies in a halo around my hollow self, she
Takes my breath with every exhale,
Understanding that tomorrow I may never breath again, a
Veteran with a heart of purple and eyes of steel, alone I
Wills my way,
X, O and all their brothers cluster in lettered letters, written in ballpoint
Youth, the postage screams at me,
Z, the end of an era.
A, the dawn of another day,
Closed,
Silent,
Waiting on a bedside table as my last breath goes on its way.
