"The universe is full of magical things, patiently waiting for our wits to grow sharper." ~Eden Phillpotts

I am a broken record
Though I keep turning
My tune is held
Like a note
Too long to be pleasant

I am an old-fashioned watch
That no longer runs
Because years ago
Someone forgot
To wind me up again

I am an avocado pit
Suspended in water
In a glass in your window
But unable to grow
For the cold that grasps me

I am a holey sock

Still used
Still slipped onto your foot
But a nuisance nonetheless
As your toes are rubbed red

I am a piece of jewelry
That is missing a jewel
That has a broken clasp
Not worth wearing again
Even though you say you’ll fix it

I am your grandmother’s hands
That reach out with love
That to you, as a child
Were, Too wrinkly
But are now more than enough
