For the Sky
I want to see your face light up like the sun
And your eyes twinkle like the stars;
No longer do I wish to see you fading
With your bold colours draining away.
I want to see your expression glow like the moon,
Chasing away the shadows
And replacing them with mystic silver.
I want to see your face without the city lights
That civilization insisted on shining on you,
Taking away your true brilliance and potential.
I want to see your storms and rainbows
In all their exposed and unrestrained glory;
I want to witness every flawless teardrop
That falls from your eyes when they’re misted
And every cloud that life sends your way.
Most of all, I want you to wait for the day
That I can fly up to meet you,
When I’ll finally be able to reach out
And you won’t be just out of reach,
But you’ll be right there, taking my outstretched hand
Within your grasp of eternity.
