City Boy
Chin up son.
Pull your pants up,
Honor your mother,
Protect your sister.
This is how to educate yourself about the world,
And this is how to remember history and the burdens brought upon you by society.
This is how to walk down the street innocently;
And this is how to refrain from looking guilty in front of a police officer.
This is how to hold your hands above your head when they wrongly accuse you
Remember son, don't move.
This is how to shout for justice
Although, do they really care?
That there is a corner. Where you don't belong on
These here, are drugs. These are not worth a jail cell nor coffin.
Chin up son.
They are watching your every move.
